Job Title: Assistant Interagency Coordinator Agency: New York City Department of Parks & Recreation

Major Responsibilities:
Under supervision, with some latitude for independent judgment, serve as a liaison between the Capital Projects Division and city, state and federal offices. Assist in negotiations, mitigation development and permit review. Coordinate with other Parks divisions on city, state and federal projects. Review design and construction drawings, and modify designs or develop new designs as necessary to protect and enhance parks. Investigate and propose solutions to major problems of spatial organization and site utilization to ensure best public use of a site. Apply Parks` design standards to interagency projects and develop new standards. Participate in long-term planning for projects citywide. Attend and/or host project meetings.Develop project presentations and reports. Conduct site visits throughout the park system, photo-document projects and maintain files.
Qualification Requirements:
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full-time experience in city planning; or
A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience that is equivalent to “1” above. Graduate education in city planning, urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, public administration, economic development or related fields may be substituted for up to two years of experience, on the basis of 30 graduate semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a baccalaureate degree.
Additional Qualifications Preferred:
A minimum of two years experience as a landscape architect, architect, or engineer.
Strong writing and administrative skills.
Forestry training or horticulture background.
Working knowledge of roadway transportation standards.
Familiarity with urban planning strategies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Valid New York State driver license.
